adventures of a belly dancing acupuncturist

This started as a travelogue to Turkey in the fall '05 so that I wouldn't have to send multiple emails and postcards. I'm still adding anecdotes as I remember them, but it's morphing into a "rant to the ether" spot. Stay, or go. This is my bit of space to do with what I wish.

Orhan Pamuk's The New Life

What if life? A period of time.

What is time? An accident.

What is an accident? A life. A new life.

Today we are altogether defeated, the West has swallowed us up, trampled on us in passing. They have invaded us down to our soup, our candy, our underpants; they have finished us off. But someday, someday perhaps a thousand years from now, we will avenge ourselves; we will bring an end to this conspiracy by taking them out of our soup, our chewing gum, our souls.

2 months to read the first half of the book, 2 hours to read the second half. I've never had such a lopsided experience with a book. I've also rarely read such a mind warp of a book either.
